Houston Symphony Poster Series

A showcase of Trifonov Plays Tchaikovsky at the Houston Symphony through the display of playful typography, halftones, and composition.
Isometric typography aids the illusion of the conductor's baton jarring through the 'O' in relation to the halftone hands. This poster reflects Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 theme of tension with oppositions between powerful and powerless.
The hardware of a piano is often overlooked and replaced with silhouettes or even a portrait of the pianist. Utilizing halftones allows for dimensionality in contrast to the clean angles of the typography. Hierarchy in this poster focuses on the what rather than the who  to create personality in this poster series.
This poster series dove into hierarchy, active typography, and arrangement. Both posters have a clear and distinct style and layout, but are bonded through the identical color and treatment of the image. Just like Tchaikovsky's piece, the two posters contradict yet provide a distinctive structure for one another.
